Donor Milk

Feeding your baby can come with unexpected turns, and sometimes the journey looks different than you imagined. Whether you’re navigating low milk supply, medical needs, or simply exploring your options, donor milk can be a beautiful, supportive alternative.

At Mamahood, we offer guidance and connection when it comes to accessing safe, nourishing donor milk—so you can feel confident in how you’re feeding your baby.

What Is Donor Milk?

Donor milk is breast milk that has been generously shared by another lactating parent. It can provide many of the same nutritional and immunological benefits as your own milk, making it a valuable option for families in a variety of situations.

We help you understand the different types of donor milk available, including screened and regulated options as well as community-based sharing, so you can make the choice that feels right for your family.

Donating Milk & Screening Process

For families who feel called to give back, donating breast milk is a powerful and generous way to support other babies and parents in need. At Mamahood, we’re honored to help connect potential donors with the Mothers' Milk Bank and guide you through the process with care.

To ensure the safety and quality of donor milk, all donors complete a thorough screening process. This typically includes a detailed health history, lifestyle questionnaire, and a simple blood test. Once approved, your milk is carefully handled, pasteurized, and tested before being distributed to families—meeting the highest standards of safety and nutrition.

If you have an abundant supply and are interested in donating, we’re here to support you every step of the way—from learning more about eligibility to getting started with the screening process.

Your milk can make a meaningful difference in another family’s journey.
